Interactive Sound Environment

The installation breathes, dreams, and reacts—its emotional states unfolding through sound and light.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

STAGING THE ARTIFICIAL BEING

The main layout and design of the Light Cloud is inspired by the cognitive and emotional states such as sleeping, dreaming, remembering, feeling and thinking. Each audio-visual composition reflects a certain state of consciousness, like perception, self-awareness, awakeness, ability to act and intentionality. Depending on each state, the modes of the compositions range from passive to reactive to interactive. Thus, visitors become sometimes observers, sometimes participants.

During the day the installation rearranges the sound compositions according to it’s state of mind, so that on each visit the space feels completely different. With more than 80 unique soundscapes, the visitors experience interactively a broad set of self-evolving scenarios that range from playful musical compositions up to complex sound experiments.

A smart system behind the mirrored surfaces continuously connects new correlations between the movements of the visitors and the resulting audio-visual responds. Sound, light and movement merge to an interactive canvas.

To envelop visitors fully, the installation used a spatial sound system of seven ceiling speakers (seen thediagram), four exciters hidden behind mirrored walls, and one subwoofer beneath the floor.

Together they created a seamless field of sound — a living presence that could be felt as much as heard, surrounding the body and dissolving the boundaries of the room.
